I'm an author and illustrator
with a S.T.E.A.M. background!
More about me
Hi, I'm j.remy. Well, technically/legally I'm Jeremy McAnally, but there's another artist with the same name whose art is a bit more adult than mine. So, to avoid confusion, I adopted j.remy as my own personal Super Secret Artist Name™.
I've been interested in creating children's books since...well, I was a child. I was always writing stories and drawing things when I probably should have been paying attention to my teachers. In first grade a book I wrote and illustrated won a county-wide award. In fourth grade, I created a character named Moo-Coo the Cow and created a bunch of stories and dummy books starring him. Around that time, a children's book author came to my school, and I shared my dummy books with her. She loved them! So much so, actually, that she kept them due to a misunderstanding. And being the shy, awkward kid I was, I was too scared to ask for them back. Whoops.
As I grew up, it became clear that computers were a good career path for me. Despite going through six majors in college and eventually earning a degree in church pastoring, I've managed to build a pretty decent career in tech. I am currently a technical director at Sequoia Capital, leading a software engineering team and AI strategy for the firm. As I'm getting more serious about creating children's books, I'm really keen on drawing from my tech background to create engaging stories!
